You’re ready for the time of your life and you know you want to travel, but how do you decide on the destination? Do you do a single destination holiday, multiple destinations, a cruise, a train ride… the choices are endless and somewhat overwhelming.
Never fear, you’re not alone! A simple internet search will reveal an abundance of help on the subject, and you’ll even come across a multitude of companies that organise holidays specifically for the over 50’s – just think of them as the Contiki tours of your generation!
These type of tour and group holidays work well for several reasons. Not only do they do the majority of the hard work for you but it’s a great idea for couples AND singles. All the strong, independent people out there, breathe a sigh of relief! No need to feel like the lone traveller again – many companies will make sure you’re not the only single aboard. And, as an added bonus to ticking countries off your bucket list, we have no doubt you’ll make some fabulous new friends.
So, now comes the crunch time… Pick a place that you’ve always wanted to travel to, to explore and to immerse yourself in the culture. Maybe you’ve always wanted to do an African safari, visit Vatican City, attend a traditional tea ceremony in Japan or drive a luxurious sports car through Europe.
But why stop with just one place? Why not do two, three or more! Look at it this way – you’re already in another country, so take the opportunity while it’s there.
Of course, as we get older, there are certain activities that are no longer appealing or doable, but that doesn’t mean you just have to sit in your hotel room the whole trip. Know your limitations but don’t let the fear of the unknown hold you back!
